Considering the number of passengers, all of the jet fuel involved and the closeness to the terminal, this was the best possible outcome and a disaster of historic proportions averted. It will be interesting to see who is blamed: (1) the Comair for stopping too far from the terminal; (2) the Airbus for taxiing too fast & possibly not tracking the centerline markings of the taxiway; (3) the airport designers for not allowing enough space from tail of the Comair to the massive wingtip of the A-380. The video shows the tremendous mass & power differential between the 2 jets - the CRJ is spun like a toy. It must have been quite shock to the waiting passengers & crew of the CRJ to suddenly & violently have changed their heading by 90 degrees counterclockwise. 380 riders may have seen it coming.
