Arresting cable breaks

A Sukhoi Su33 rolls off of the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier in a failed landing and goes into the drink. The pilot ejected.

I thought you were supposed to land with full power just in case the cable broke or you missed it. Maybe the pilot didn't read that part of the manual.

Looks like the arresting cable failed - I'll bet that water was cold. Sure hope that the carrier didn't run over the pilot!
