The Blue Wing Airlines Antonov AN-28, scheduled flight from Godo Holo, Suriname, to Paramaribo Zorg en Hoop, Suriname, with 6 passengers and 2 crew, crashed in the jungle of eastern Suriname. All eight on board were killed in the accident.
The plane was enroute about 10 minutes into the flight when the crew reported bad weather and shortly thereafter radio contact was lost. The airplane still has not arrived at Zorg en Hoop several hours after estimated arrival. Rescue and Recovery teams reached the crash site the day after and all eight occupants were found dead.
The airplane crashed about 200km (108nm) southeast of Paramaribo into the jungle 5km northeast of Pokisi in the Upper Marowijne District. The crash location is near the Tapanahony River. The airplane was quite off course obviously in order to avoid bad weather on the direct route.
