The Beechcraft 1900D cargo plane, operated by Blue Bird Aviation, was on a cargo flight with two crewmembers onboard. It crashed on landing at Nairobi, Kenya, killing the aircrew.
The aircraft had taken off shortly before from Nairobi towards Mogadishu, Somalia, when a problem developed and the two men called the air traffic control for an emergency, asking for an immediate landing back in the departure airport. During the subsequent descent, however, the pilot did not manage to keep the airplane high enough and crashed into the airport's fence. The aircraft caught fire right afterwards.
Blue Bird Aviation is currently on the blacklist of airlines banned from flying in the European Union.
