Updated on
The Boeing 737-8BK operated by Caribbean Airlines took off from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, for a passenger flight to Georgetown, Guyana. 154 passengers and 8 crewmembers were onboard. The plane missed the landing and broke up. All the people onboard survived, but two passengers received serious injuries.
Heavy rainfall prevailed at the time of the accident, which reduced the visibility. The plane touched down Georgetown's runway 06 too far away from the runway threshold, and could not stop by the time he reached the end. The plane overran the runway by about 330 feet (100 meters), broke through the perimeter fence, fell onto a perimeter road and broke in two. The front section of the plane separated just ahead of the wings.
