The plane was scheduled for a passenger flight from Bangkok's Don Muang International Airport to the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai. Approximately 27 minutes before its scheduled departure time, fire broke out aboard. The fire was extinguished within an hour. Traces of C-4, a powerful explosive, were found in the wreckage, but it is unclear whether these traces were related to the explosion aboard the aircraft.
