Palunge Hill, NepalThe Tara Air de Havilland DHC-6-300 Twin Otter took off for a charter flight from Lamidanda, Nepal, to Kathmandu, Nepal. 19 passengers and 3 crewmembers were onboard. The plane crashed 5 minutes after departure from Lamidanda, killing all the 22 people onboard.

About five minutes after take off from Lamidanda, the plane lost radio contact with ATC. The flight was scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu 35 minutes after departure from Lamidanda located 75 NM eastsoutheast of Kathmandu. The aircraft did not arrive on any airstrip until the night, a search by Nepalese helicopters did not locate the aircraft until the following morning. The wreckage of the aircraft was found at an altitude of approximately 8850 feet (2600 meters) at which the airplane had impacted Palunge Mountain near Shrichaur VDC in the Okhaldhunga district.

The plane was flying very low and its left wing clipped the top of a mountain, which caused it to crash. The wreckage is scattered over 200 meters in the mountains.

Tara Air is currently on the blacklist of airlines banned from flying in the European Union.
